Visit of Pope Benedict XVI in the Czech Republic
on 26th - 28th September 2009

The official website about the papal visit is www.navstevapapeze.cz.
Its aim is to offer information on preparations of this event as well as continuously updated plan.

On 30th May 2009 accepted Pope Benedict XVI the invitation of the President of the Czech Republic and of the Czech Bishops' Conference. He will make an apostolic journey to the Czech Republic on 26th - 28th September 2009 when he will visit Prague, Brno and Stará Boleslav.

Pope Benedict XVI. will celebrate the Holy Mass at the airport Brno-Tuřany on Sunday 27th September 2009 at 10 o'clock.

Place reservations are closed, but the area is ready to welcome all pilgrims.
Anyone willing to take part can obtain a place ticket before the papal mass.

Place reservations for papal mass were closed on Aug. 31, 2009 and no more applications are being accepted; neither it is possible for priests to ask for concelebrating. Registration forms are now being processed and place reservations are printed. There is still enough space for all pilgrims in Brno as well as in Stará Boleslav, hence it is possible just to come for the mass and get a ticket at the entry.

Pilgrims can come on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Brno-Tuřany Airport and get a place ticket at the entrance. However, only sectors far from the podium will be available.
We recommend arriving as early as possible, preferably at 5 am.

Practical information for the foreign pilgrims are available here.

Since foundation of the Diocese of Brno on 5th December 1777 it is the first papal visit of the diocese as well as of the city of Brno. The official website also offers more information on the Diocese of Brno, significant people from the diocese, the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul, the city of Brno, the South Moravian Region as well as the airport Brno-Tuřany.
